The Team

Over 40 people form the Girolibero Team, which has steadily grown since it started up over 10 years ago and works with the enthusiasm and dedication of a large family. Meet the Roadbike gang:

Girolibero Roadbike

Pierpaolo Romio

A born dreamer, Pierpaolo founded Girolibero/Zeppelin in 1998. His travel diaries cover over 500,000 km of hitchhiking adventures the length and breadth of Europe and the most unusual collection of bikes. Favourite mode of travel? Bike and boat. His CV lists some unlikely occupations, after which he irreversibly converted to cycling holidays. When not at the company's HQ in Vicenza, he's most likely out at lunch with one of his staff – something he enjoys doing with each of them in turn.

Born in the Berici Hills outside Vicenza, the fourth of five siblings and the only girl. A femminist and contrarian by vocation, she is never short of a pretext for being out on the road: particularly memorable are her temp jobs around Europe, including at a small ice cream shop along the River Main cycling track. Graduated with a thesis on Käurismäki's films, Alice still loves a challenge, despite settling down as a partner and parent. Next up: a marathon, teaching her little girl to pedal and... cycling the Paris-London!

Andrea may be a boy's name in Italy, but this has never stopped her from being dead proud of it and travelling abroad with it. Her forays include Austria, where she has lived and studied languages. Andrea translates, checks and enriches our client information material year after year. She is a maniac for attention to detail (she is a virgo after all), and when not working on roadbooks and cycling guides, she loves group tours on two wheels – not least the family ones: kids on bikes are just great!

Andrea Ferrigato is affectionately known by his former teammates and friends as “Ferri” for his legs of “Steel” recording an estimated 650,000 miles in his career on a bike.

Ferri has had a professional career spanning 15 years, 8 Giro d’Italia and 4 Tour de France. He was a Stage winner of the Giro D’Italia (1994), 2 World Cup races in 1996, when he was second in the final classification, and other 17 important classics race.

He remains very passionate and thankful for his career and is willing to share this passion with other like-minded cyclists.

Andrea has chosen several epic rides to participate in, both in Italy and other European countries, and is eager to ride alongside other guest riders who share his passion.

Girolibero's "youngster" has been checking and translating our background material since 2007. She loves volleyball, beach volley and clubbing – always an opportunity to sport an impressive collection of high heels. Martina was keen to improve her German after qualifying in languages at high school in 2009: we packed her off to Bavaria for a few months, and she is now as comfortable with a Radler as she is with an aperitivo.

Joined the Girolibero ranks in May 2006 as a temp translator and preparing info packs before firmly planting her roots. Progressed to programming and bookings, enriching her contribution with historical and gastronomic hints and tips – which are always welcome! In her free time Natasha lets her hair down at rock concerts and funfairs, and relaxes with a game of "Super Mario" or a Scandinavian whodunnit.

Sometimes taking risks is part of our job; however, this year we simply cannot take this risk. Here you can read why - and in the meantime we are preparing 2022, ready to roll again!
