History

Girolibero Roadbike was born of the Girolibero success story. While the parent company specialises in soft cycling holidays, the roadbike offshoot does exactly what it says on the can: with Andrea Ferrigato entering the fray, the bike frames – as if by magic – got lighter, the handlebar grips dropped, the distances became more grueling and the challenges all the more rewarding. In essence, the wealth of experience amassed by Girolibero – by then one of Europe's top bike tour operators – was quickly complemented by the competitor's instinct of a former pro racer: Girolibero Roadbike was born. Experience had met passion.

"I was born on two wheels: I've always had a passion for pedalling and as a child I used to dream that one day I'd be a professional cyclist. Whenever I sat on my bike, a blue Torpado, I'd dream with my eyes wide open that I was racing.
I started racing competitively at 15 and never stopped – right up until the age of 35, some 680,000 km down the road. I channelled all of my energy into my professional career, hoping that it would be a fulfilling one right up the end, and I'm grateful to have achieved that: 8 Giro d’Italia, 4 Tour de France and 17 victories – including two World Cup races, the Zurich GP, Leeds International Classic, a stage of the Giro d'Italia, the Plouey GP, Bern GP, the Vuelta Algarve, as well as several races for the National Team.
I carried on cycling out of passion and working in the world of two wheels, until the road finally led me to Girolibero. I continue with my training, looking for the greatest climbs around – not least the ones that lead up to a decent restaurant or an interesting winery.
My challenge now is to share my enthusiasm and elation with each and every one of my cycling companions, here at Girolibero Roadbike".

“... when you're pedalling you have to imagine that you're dancing on a knife blade” Andrea's trainer Dodo would tell him. Your lightness becomes your strength. And this is what dawned on us when we saw Andrea "dancing" on his pedals. If pink is the colour, ultimately it's also because the greatest thrill any Italian cyclist could ever experience – in our own man's opinion – is to wear that iconic PINK JERSEY.

And that's just what we aim to achieve with you: to share the beauty of the landscapes, that sensation of lightness and wellbeing, but also to share with you the euphoria of wearing the pink jersey.
